Detailed description of our week-end activities:

Volcano Cotopaxi - for everybody, US$ 55.--
Excursion to the volcano Cotopaxi (5'897 m.a.s.l.). Trip from Quito southwards through the Valle de los Chillos to the Cotopaxi National Park. Thanks four wheel drive vehicle it's easy to make the way up to the first hut at 4'500 m.a.s.l passing different climate zones. The last 300 m will follow on foot up to the second hut which is at 4'800 m.a.s.l. In case of good weather conditions you will be able to hike higher to approx. 5'000 m.a.s.l where you will meet the first snow which covers the volcano. On your way back visit of the Laguna de Limpio Pungo.

Otavalo - surrounded of fantastic volcano scenery, US$ 40.--
Excursion to Otavalo, the most famous and largest Indian market of South America. On the way north from Quito you will enjoy many volcanoes covered with snow all year around. Visit of the Laguna de San Pablo with its volcano Imbabura in the background. After the visit of the market drive to the Cascada de Peguche and further to the volcano Cuicocha with its nice lake. Visit of Cotacachi, famous for low priced leather fashion.

Santa Domingo - experience the Indian life at the Costa
You will enjoy the trip by public transport to Santa Domingo de los Colorados because of the different climate zones you will pass from the Sierra down to the tropical Costa. On the way from Santa Domingo to an Indian village you will pass different plantations of bananas, coffee and cacao. Away from tourism you get a view about modern life of the Indians. Visit of the Indian museum.
Papallacta - hot springs, US$ 40.--
The greatest thermal springs in Ecuador can be found in Papallacta. The village is located east of Quito on the way to the Amazon. The pools are very clean and with good infrastructure.
